How to price a used tablet at the pawn counter

Short answer: identify the exact model and generation, the storage and whether it has a cellular modem, make sure the owner's account is removed, check the screen and battery, and price it from recent real sales of the same version.

Identify the exact version

Account lock first

Like phones, tablets can be locked to the owner's account. Ask for a sign-out and a reset in front of you, and check that it starts at the setup screen without asking for the previous account. A locked tablet is very hard to sell.

Condition checks

Price from comparable sales

Use recent real sales of the same model, generation, storage and connectivity. Listings for the newest generation do not tell you what an older one sells for.

How PawnMeter helps

The clerk types the brand, model, storage and condition. PawnMeter shows the median of real recent sales of the same version at participating shops, or says it has no comparable sales.

PawnMeter: Type the item. PawnMeter shows the resale price and a suggested loan, calculated only from what comparable items really sold for. When there is not enough data, it says so instead of guessing.
